Commitment To Clients
Christopher L. Miller, Esq., L.L.C. is serious about providing the highest quality of legal services to its clients. Christopher Miller, Esq., L.L.C. strives to use education, experience, professional connections, technology and compassion to provide excellence in legal representation and to ensure that the client’s expectations are exceeded.
Many people are overwhelmed with the idea of getting involved in legal matters, and some people may have had bad experiences with lawyers in the past. Therefore, as part of my commitment to you the client, I have established the following principals that my firm will endeavor to operate under:
-
If you are unsatisfied with my service and choose to terminate the firm’s representation of you prior to putting an estate plan into place, you will receive a full refund of your retainer. If you choose to terminate the Firm's representation of you after your receipt of draft estate planning documents, the refund will be 50% of the fee paid. In family court and small business representations, refunds of the unearned portion of your retainer will be made.
-
You will always be able to reach an attorney within a reasonable period of time to talk to you about your case. Your communications to the firm and your correspondence will be responded to within twenty four hours, barring unforeseen emergencies.
-
All prospective clients will receive up to twenty minutes of free in-office consultation to allow my office to determine whether it can meet your needs and to allow you to become comfortable with the office before moving forward with a formal attorney-client relationship. The Firm offers a paid consultation of one hour for $75.00. As the office provides a free in-office consultation, the firm’s general policy is not to provide legal advice over the telephone or via email or other means. All consultations require the presence of the ultimate decision maker regarding representation. During your consultation it may be determined that one or more legal issues must be researched, or other professionals consulted before coming to a satisfactory answer or plan of attack. The firm will strive to find these answers for you in as timely a manner as possible, but some issues are complex and require further thought and research. The firm is committed to providing proper and accurate legal advice. The firm does not wish to give spur of the moment uninformed legal advice in any circumstance.
-
The firm will constantly hone its skills to stay on the cutting edge of legal representation and strives to be a leader in estate planning, family law, business law, trusts and estates law, and probate. Through memberships in various organizations, including the South Carolina Bar, the New York State Bar Association, the American Bar Association, through access to online legal research and library materials, you can be assured that the firm’s knowledge is up to date.
-
Legalese will be avoided as much as possible and I will speak in plain English whenever possible.
-
The firm will strive to maintain the highest standards of professional ethics and integrity in its practice and billing.
-
The firm will be results-driven and will attempt to obtain the best possible result while charging a fair and reasonable fee. Economy and cost efficiency, through the use of technology, is a primary goal. All clients billed on an hourly basis will receive a written bill every sixty days. The firm provides written letters of engagement to all clients, stating the scope of services to be provided and the amount to be billed. Credit cards are accepted as a form of payment.
-
The firm will communicate with you regularly regarding your matter and give you regular status updates. Estate planning documents, litigation documents, and other documents can be transmitted to the client via ordinary U.S. mail, express mail, overnight mail, facsimile, email, and via the firm's secure internet web portal.
-
As estate planning can be a time sensitive matter, the firm will endeavor to complete all estate plans, from the date of first consultation through the execution ceremony, in thirty days or less. Emergency situations are eligible for expedited handling.
The firm has written out this commitment to you so that you can know what to expect from a professional law firm and you can hold us accountable if necessary. You can be assured that on those rare occasions when the firm falls short of expectations, we will do our best to ensure the situation is resolved to your satisfaction.
